The Mining in Motion 2025 Summit has announced the participation of Ghana’s Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah as a keynote speaker.
Held under the theme “Sustainable Mining & Local Growth – Leveraging Resources for Global Impact”, the summit will convene Ghanaian policymakers, gold mining stakeholders and international investors to explore strategies for unlocking Ghana’s full mining potential.
Buah will play a pivotal role in high-level panel discussions, spotlighting investment opportunities across Ghana’s gold mining value chain, recent regulatory reforms and the country’s drive to enhance local content development. A key focus will be on Ghana’s efforts to formalise and strengthen the artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) sector.
Under Buah’s leadership, the Ministry has made significant strides in positioning ASGM as a catalyst for inclusive economic growth. The sector now employs over one million people and generated US$5 billion in gold export revenue in 2024, reinforcing its vital contribution to national development.
In collaboration with the World Bank, Ghana is implementing the Ghana Landscape Restoration and Small-Scale Mining Project, aimed at empowering District Mining Committees and formalising the ASGM sector. The establishment of a dedicated Gold Board will further improve access to finance and markets for small-scale miners. Moreover, the 2024 Cooperative Mining Policy is strengthening the capacity of community mining cooperatives through technical and financial support.
At the summit, Buah will position Ghana as a global model for sustainable and formalised small-scale mining. Beyond panel engagements, he will also participate in exclusive networking sessions and high-level meetings with global investors, exploration and production firms and government officials, laying the groundwork for strategic partnerships and sector expansion.
