The world’s largest integrated single-site precious metals refining and smelting complex, Rand Refinery Limited, has signed on as a Silver Sponsor for the inaugural Mining in Motion 2025 Summit. Its participation signals a strong vote of confidence in Ghana’s gold industry and a commitment to advancing responsible mining, processing and export practices.
As a pivotal player in Africa’s gold value chain, Rand Refinery offers key services in smelting, evaluation, refining and recovery of precious metals. The refinery maintains close ties with major gold producers operating in Ghana, including AngloGold Ashanti, owners of the Iduapriem and Obuasi mines and Gold Fields, which operates the Tarkwa mine. Additionally, Rand Refinery has exclusive rights to refine production from Goldplat’s Ghanaian operations, cementing its role in both upstream and downstream sectors. “Supporting Mining in Motion is a natural extension of our work across Africa. We are committed to fostering transparent, ethical gold sourcing while strengthening strategic partnerships in Ghana’s mining sector,” explained the company.
As Ghana deepens collaboration with international stakeholders to boost the growth and sustainability of its gold industry, Rand Refinery’s presence at the summit reinforces the importance of global partnerships. The company’s long-term vision aligns with Ghana’s ambitions to scale responsible gold production, strengthen regulatory frameworks and ensure value addition within its borders.
Organised by the Ashanti Green Initiative in collaboration with the World Bank, the World Gold Council and other global partners, Mining in Motion 2025 will take place in Accra from 2–4 June 2025. The summit brings together high-level leaders including Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama, representatives from the African Union, ECOWAS and the United Nations, as well as major mining and finance players, to shape the future of gold mining in Africa.
