UAE-based precious metals refinery Al Etihad Gold has confirmed its participation as a Bronze Sponsor at the upcoming Mining in Motion 2025 Summit, scheduled to take place from 2 to 4 June in Accra, Ghana. The summit, held under the theme ‘Sustainable Mining and Local Growth – Leveraging Resources for Global Impact’, aims to connect global industry leaders with emerging opportunities in Ghana’s evolving mining landscape.
Al Etihad Gold, recognised as one of the UAE’s largest and fastest growing gold and silver refineries, joins the summit at a time of significant regulatory change in Ghana. As of 1 May 2025, new regulations prohibit foreign entities from directly purchasing or trading gold from artisanal and small-scale miners. The Ghana Gold Board will now hold exclusive rights to buy, assay and export gold from these producers, offering a restructured channel for international partnerships.
With the UAE being Ghana’s primary gold export destination, Al Etihad Gold’s presence at the summit highlights its sustained commitment to supporting Ghana’s value-added gold industry. The event presents a key opportunity for the company to engage with both public and private sector stakeholders on compliance, downstream investment and responsible sourcing in line with the new regulatory framework.
The summit is supported by the Ashanti Green Initiative, led by Prince Oheneba Kwaku Duah of the Ashanti Kingdom, in collaboration with the World Bank and the World Gold Council. Al Etihad Gold is expected to take part in high-level discussions and networking sessions focused on sustainable development and local beneficiation within Ghana’s mining sector.
