Deepening the Footprint: Galiano Gold Unveils High-Grade Extensions at Abore

Galiano Gold (TSX, NYSE-A: GAU) has significantly bolstered the growth profile of its Asanko Gold Mine in Ghana, following the release of exceptional drilling results that extend the Abore deposit well beyond its current mineralised boundaries. The Vancouver-based producer revealed on Monday that recent intercepts have confirmed robust extensions of high-grade gold mineralization up to 180 metres below the existing underground resource. These findings are a pivotal component of a larger 30,000-metre exploration campaign aimed at redefining the asset’s scale, with notable intercepts such as 53 metres grading 3.9 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and 32 metres grading 4.7 g/t gold underscoring the untapped potential beneath the Abore main pit.

The exploration success at Abore marks a strategic shift for Galiano as it seeks to transition the deposit into a cornerstone of a revised life-of-mine plan anticipated in 2027. By outlining a newly defined 200-metre-long mineralised zone beneath the pit floor, the company has demonstrated improved continuity in areas previously omitted from its underground models. This geological momentum follows Galiano’s move in 2024 to consolidate its ownership of the Asanko operation to 90%, a decision that increasingly appears vindicated by the high-grade intervals returned from depth. The main pit ore shoot has now been tracked approximately 50 metres farther down plunge to the north, suggesting that the system remains open and fertile.

Located within the prolific Asankrangwa gold belt, the Asanko operation is currently navigating an ambitious production ramp-up, with 2026 guidance set between 140,000 and 160,000 ounces of gold. The integration of these new underground targets is expected to enhance the existing resource base, which currently stands at 3.44 million measured and indicated ounces. As the market reacted positively to the news, pushing the company’s valuation toward the C$950 million mark, the focus now shifts to the remaining assay results expected by mid-year. This continued step-out and infill drilling will be essential in converting speculative depth extensions into the bankable ounces required to sustain long-term industrial output in one of West Africa’s premier mining jurisdictions.

Commenting on the strategic implications of the recent drill cores, Chris Pettman, Galiano Gold’s Vice President of Exploration, stated: “These latest exploration results continue to demonstrate the upside potential at Abore, highlighting extensions of mineralization and continuity of mineralized zones outside of, and well beneath, the current mineral resource.”
